So, it is advised to take the valuables as a hand carry, as the airline provides 7kg allowance for that.
Also, one should note that the checked luggage shall not weigh above 32kg as per the requirement. If the bag or the box is above 32kgs, it needs to be repacked properly. If the luggage weight exceeds the prescribed limit, you will be charged according to the fixed charges.
It is recommended that personal and baggage insurance should be made before travel. Air Niugini has travel insurance available through Paradise Travel insurance. This is a multipurpose policy replacing all the other policies. The valuable luggage should be insured much prior to the travel.
This tag is applied to all the perishable items at the check-in counter. It is done so that these items will be handled will extra care all through the journey. Also, incidents can happen during the journey, but airlines take no responsibility for the same. Airlines immediately investigate the mishandling with a formal letter of apology and insurance. So, in case of any loss and damage, claim can be rightfully lodged with Air Niugini Cargo. According to the International tariffs the checked baggage includes clothing and toiletries that can be compensated if reported damaged or lost due to mishandling.
You should ensure to take the name tag from the check-in counter staff when you finalize your ticket for purchase. You should clearly mention you contact details that include your permanent address, email, and contact number so that you could be easily reached in case of mishandling of the baggage. Name tags shall be fixed on the handles of the bag or they should be placed in the clear empty pocket, with the details mentioned legibly and visible clearly. Also, any other cardboard box containing personal items shall have your personal details written on them.
