Alaska Seaplanes: Baggage and Animal Policy
This is a premier commuter airline of Southeast Alaska. Alaska Seaplanes was founded in 1997. The company has its headquarter in Juneau that employs around 140 people. This company operates for the entire year and is a member of the Medallion Aviation Safety Program.
For a safe and stress-free journey with Alaska Seaplanes, we have compiled all the necessary information that you require while planning a trip:
Check-In Information
- Passengers are requested to check-in an hour prior to the departure. The boarding-in will take place 20 minutes before the departure. If you fail to reach on time than your reserved seats will be canceled along with $40 change or no show fee.
- Children below the age of 2 years can travel for free with an adult paying the ticket in full.
- For the children in the age group of 5 to 11 years an adult should be designated at the destination prior to the departure of the flight.
Baggage
- It is mandatory to get all your baggage weighted. The maximum weight allowed for each passenger is 50lbs. for a scheduled flight. If the weight exceeds the prescribed limit it will be charged accordingly.
- You are not supposed to carry any carry-on baggage.
- Heavy and large weighted items like a bike, large pet carriers, coolers, and golf clubs, etc might not fit in the aircraft without prior intimation and planning. You need to notify the local manager to make the necessary accommodations.
- Fragile or perishable items can be transported at passenger’s own risk.
- Passengers can make the claim for any damage or loss of the item within 24hrs of the loss.
- There are certain items that are not included in the loss or damage list :
- Antiques
- Human Organ
- Coats, gloves, and hats
- Art objects and sculptures
- Cash or currency
- Computers, watches and the like
- Binoculars, business documents, jewelry, and medication
Hazardous Materials
The transportation department requires that the items that are considered hazardous must be informed prior to the check-in. There is a specified list of forbidden material that one must not carry during their journey that includes:
- Fireworks
- Strike anywhere matches
- Jet power
- Oxygen bottles and
- Explosives etc.
Animal Policy
All the animals can be transported in the Kennels provided by the passenger. If the passenger intends to travel with an animal, prior intimation should be given at the time of reservation. All the animals that are traveling should be brought 1 hr prior to the departure of the flight and should be collected immediately after the flight reaches its destination.
Due to the size and weight limit of the aircraft, not all the animals can be transported. Animals will be refused to travel if they might cause discomfort to other passengers. Additional $25 will be charged as animal fees.
The baggage and cargo that contains any hazardous substances can be searched by TSA for security purposes. Alaska Seaplanes keeps the safety of the passengers a matter of priority.
