Angara Airlines: Fleets and Baggage Policies

Angara Airlines was established in 2000 and based in Irkutsk, Russia. Presently, it’s the major airline on domestic flights in Siberia and leads flights from Irkutsk airport. The major airports of the airline are situated at Novosibirsk and Irkutsk. Further, the airline operates scheduled flights in the Siberia region. Apart from scheduled flights, this airline also offers VIP transportation, charter transportation, accessories repair, and freight and mail services. In addition, it operates on other regions in the Russian Federation and charter flights.

Aircraft and Fleets

At the Irkutsk airport, Angara Airlines includes the largest base for the maintenance of aircraft and ground handling. This airline is a part of Eastland group, covering all its transport, construction, manufacturing, and tourism aspects. Further, Eastland group consists of the Baikal Dunes Recreation Center, the Greenland Elite Cottage Settlement, the Eastland Ski Complex, Hotel Irkutsk, the Eastland Travel agency, the Fitness and Beauty Club, and The Eastern-Siberian Inland Navigation Company.

The airline’s fleet includes 32 aircraft. These are eleven Mi-8 helicopters, two AN-2s, three AN-26-100s, seven AN-24s, and five AN-148s in many variations. However, Angara Airlines is not limited to serving domestic areas, but also has permission to operate international flights.

Baggage Policies

• Angara Airline accepts passengers’ luggage if it is registered at departure, transfer airport, and stopping airport (or any other registration point) of the airport.
• A passenger is allowed to transport his luggage at no extra cost within the following established standard:
• Up to 25 kg per person for routes including Irkutsk – Mirniy and Novosibirsk – Mirniy
• Up to 20 kg per person for all Angara Airlines flights excluding Irkutsk – Mirniy route and Novosibirsk — Mirniy route
• Extra, heavy luggage and overweight are permitted to carry to the cabin if the availability for free capacity is there. Moreover, if a passenger has already paid for his extra luggage, it is allowed.
• Passengers have the authority to state the value of their checked luggage. The value of checked baggage is acknowledged for every piece independently. The declared value for carriage of luggage is charged at the amount set by the carrier.
• If passengers are in a group, luggage is registered for each passenger individually.
• Every item of checked luggage must include sound packing to ensure its safety during handling and shipping. If your luggage is not as per the weight guidelines, it is not accessible for transportation.
