 Coimbatore Airport

Popularly known as by its code ‘CJB,’ Coimbatore Airport, a global or  international airport is situated in the Coimbatore city of Tamil Nadu.

In respect of passengers traffic, this airport is the nineteenth busiest Indian airport. Erstwhile it was known as Peelamedu Civil Aerodome because it is situated in Peelamedu which is a neighborhood of Coimbatore municipal corporation

Regarding the size of cargo, it is the 2^nd largest airport in India after Chennai International. It offers direct connection to 3 international destinations and 12 national and also it serves 6 national and 4 international airlines.

TERMINALS:

Coming to the terminals, the Coimbatore airport serves both domestic and international passenger with only 1 terminal but with that airport also has a distinct cargo terminal.

The major domestic airlines such as JetLite, Air India, IndiGo, Jet Airways, SpiceJet, Jet Airways serves the airport & provides the direct connectivity to the major destinations in the country.

And for the international flights Silk Air, Air Arabia handles flights to Coimbatore.

Furthermore, this airport has 9, 760 ft long runway for accommodating large aircrafts and the airport was expanded in 2008. Parking bays, aerobridges & instrument landing system were also introduced and it costed around USD12 million.

By the end of the year 2010, there some new national & international segments were added to the common existing terminal.

Parking management system of Coimbatore International Airport is also very well managed and supports the accommodation of about 300 cars. The airport also has 2 hangers, out of them two, one offers shelter to the aircrafts of Coimbatore Flying Club and other one for the private/personal carriers.

Not only this, the airport is expanding year by year, and 2 new aerobridges are under-construction

City buses are available just 11 km away from the airport. You will find several buses available to the different parts of the state- Tamil Nadu. From the airport it might take 20-25 min from the airport.
