Ahmedabad International Airport or Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport is situated in Gujarat, India. This Airport is located 9 km north of central Ahmedabad, in Hansol, the airport is serving numerous cities in India.
The name of the airport came from the name of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, 1st Deputy Prime Minister of India. Ahmedabad Airport’s Code is AMD.
Talking of the economic year 2016 2017, this Airport has managed over 7.4 million passengers taking the help of 180 aircraft, which moves every day. This airport is the eighth busiest airport in terms of passenger traffic in the nation.
The procedure for the privatization of the airport has started by the government of India in the year 2015. it is said that the airport is soon to be replaced by Dholera International Airport because of expansion constraints. Terminals
There are two terminals at the Ahmedabad International Airport.
Terminal 1
This terminal extends over an area of 480,000 sq feet and, in total, has 32 checks in counters.
Terminal 2
This terminal was opened in the year 2010. also, this terminal has won the award for the best Steel Structure at the 2009 edition of the National Structural Steel Design. This airport also owns a cargo terminal that can accommodate 51,673 tonnes of cargo. Around 60 percent of the cargo is of domestic sources. The lease was put on in the year 2009. In order to set a center for perishable cargo, 3,685 sq meters of land for lease was planned for a tenure of seven years to Gujarat Agro Industries.
But the government policy says, no third party to interfere in the operation at airports; Until July 2014, CPC will not be in use later though, the government issued No Objection Certificate commencement of operations.
According to the announcement, the airport will have a dedicated cargo terminal in the year 2014. also, it will be known as Terminal S.
